This page records changes that could affect a reader’s technical decision. Minor spelling or layout corrections may be fixed without an entry.

August 3, 2026 — site launch

• Published the initial methodology, editorial, privacy, cookie, accessibility, and terms pages.
• Published seventeen source-backed image-performance guides across four categories.
• Released the private browser image optimizer and responsive srcset builder.
• Documented that advertising and non-essential analytics are not enabled at launch.
• Clarified editorial responsibility and the guide-review process on the About page.
• Expanded the Privacy Policy with conditional Google advertising-cookie disclosures, opt-out links, and consent information for any future AdSense activation.

August 12, 2026 — review-safety and mobile fixes

• Stopped loading the AdSense review tag on real 404 pages and searches with no results while keeping it on normal published pages.
• Contained wide evidence tables in a horizontal scroll region on narrow screens so they no longer widen the full document.
• Bumped the public theme stylesheet to version 1.0.5 so browsers receive the responsive fix.
• Restored the dark page background after an invalid empty CSS declaration made light text unreadable, and added a stable fallback plus mobile wrapping for long code hashes.
• Replaced five blank result matrices with complete measurement protocols that do not imply unfinished or invented results.
• Added a fifth measured study: controlled EXIF removal with exact byte delta, identical decoded-pixel hashes, labeled evidence, and a downloadable reproducibility bundle.
• Added an original synthetic codec fixture, a five-step JPEG/WebP/AVIF ladder, decoded-pixel metrics, labeled crops, exact encoder versions, hashes, and downloadable source data to the format comparison guide.
• Replaced the illustrative JPEG worksheet with a completed five-step ladder, full candidates, measured bytes, PSNR, luminance SSIM, and human crop notes.
• Added four real responsive WebP candidates, measured file sizes and hashes, copy-ready srcset/sizes markup, and a downloadable currentSrc verification page.
• Added an original RGBA fixture and measured PNG, lossless WebP, and lossy WebP outputs over white, dark, green, and orange surfaces.
• Published portable generator scripts, pinned dependency versions, CSV/JSON records, README files, and downloadable bundles so readers can repeat or challenge the runs.

These runs are bounded evidence for their exact fixtures, settings, versions, and date. They do not establish a universal winning format or quality setting; each updated guide states its limitations and asks readers to repeat the method with representative production images.

August 9, 2026 — editorial and navigation corrections

• Corrected the Guides archive pagination so all seventeen guides appear once across two pages.
• Added archive canonicals and redirected empty author and Uncategorized archives to useful destinations.
• Corrected malformed copy-ready markup, recalculated reading times, and added intrinsic height output to the srcset builder.
• Expanded all seventeen guides and added recording tables. Unless a table is explicitly labelled as a measured run, it remains a worksheet or illustrative example rather than an original benchmark.
